Dashboards locked from editing for all users

Published date: 09 June 2020

System upgrade from SPM 7.0.1 to PME 7.2.1 results in all previously created dashboards being locked from editing even for the creating user.

Product Line:
Struxureware Power Monitoring 7.x
Power Monitoring Expert 7.x

This is caused by PME enforcing case sensitivity between the User Manager and the database user logged as the creating user.
Notice in the screen shot above the user logged in is "dparsons".  In the following screen shot the creating user is "Dparsons".
The character case typed during login has no effect on what the system sees after login.  This is dependant upon the User Manager configuration.

The login name and the CreatorId name in the database must match exactly.

*Warning: Irreparable database damage can occur. This procedure should only be performed by users familiar with SQL Server Management Studio. Databases should be backed up prior to performing this procedure.*

1.) Change the User's configuration in the User Manager
a.)  Open the Dashboard.Dashboard table within the ApplicationModules Database using SQL Server Management Studio
b.)  Find the username associated with the dashboards in the CreatorId column
c.)  Open User Manager through Tools in Management Console
d.)  Find the appropriate user and ensure their username matches the name listed in the database exactly
In the example below ther is a need to change the "d" to "D" within the Username field at the bottom

e.) Finally logout of the webclient and back in.  All dashboards created by that user should now be editable

NOTE: In Power Monitoring Expert 8.x, supervisors can delete dashboards created by users of any access level. As such, this process no longer need to be followed
