There may be occasions where a custom measurement was created that is no longer required but still appears in the measurement selector of the web application.

*Warning: Irreparable database damage can occur. This procedure should only be performed by users familiar with SQL Server Management Studio. Databases should be backed up prior to performing this procedure.*

To delete/remove specific measurement from a particular device follow the steps as given below
  1. Note down the Source Name/Device Name and Measurement Name for which you want to remove the measurement.
  2. Take ION_Data, ION_Network and Application Modules DB backup as a measure of safety.
  3. Stop the ION Log Inserter Service.  It will also be necessary to stop the Windows services related to the Application Modules features:AlarmServiceHost, CoreServicesHost,DataServicesHost,ProviderEngineHost
  4. Run the attached query to delete the unwanted measurement mapped to device in PME (Note: Replace values and in the below query)
    • Source Name corresponds to the device associated with the measurement that you would like to delete which is denoted as GroupName.Device
    • Measurement Name corresponds to the measurement that you would like to remove from the Source Name
Ex.  In this example if we wanted to remove the measurement Data bits from this device then the Source Name would be MODBUS.Modbus_870test and the Measurement Name would be Data bits
