EcoStruxure Machine SCADA Expert - How do I run an application in the Runtime without running the Buildtime Studio?

Published date: 11 December 2019

I am trying to run a specific EcoStruxure Machine SCADA Expert application on a Runtime PC (or iPC) and I do not have a Buildtime Studio license on this PC. How do I do this without running the Buildtime Studio Application, then pressing the "Run" button?

Windows PC running EcoStruxure Machine SCADA Expert Runtime

To run the Runtime without having to go to launch the EcoStruxure Machine SCADA Expert Buildtime Studio and pressing the “Run” button to start the application, follow these steps:
If you wish to run a specific application (which contains the .APP file in the root of the project folder) that you moved from another PC :
  1. Run Windows Command Line as Administrator
  2. In the command line console, navigate to the \Bin\ folder of EcoStruxure Machine SCADA Expert with the Change Directory command:
    cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Schneider Electric\EcoStruxure Machine SCADA Expert v8.1\Bin\
  3. In the command line console, run the “RunStartUp.exe” with the path argument:
    RunStartUp.exe “C:\MyFolderPathOfTheProject\MyProject.APP”
The next time and subsequent times you "RunStartUp.exe" is run, the last .APP project file will be loaded - in this case "MyProject.APP".

This also holds true for the last run application opened from the Buildtime Studio as well.
For example:
If you followed the procedure above and set MyProject.APP as the last run project, and afterwards run "NewProject.APP" from inside the Buildtime Studio, the next time and subsequent times you run "RunStartUp.exe" without a path argument, "NewProject.APP" will be run.
