Exciting Opportunity at the Nexus of Energy, Technology, and Sustainability: The Government Affairs Leader for Schneider Electric Mexico will be responsible for leading Schneider Electric’s government relations strategy in Mexico and serving as a vital link between senior executives, policy-makers and thought-leaders on topics such as the future of clean energy, energy resilience, cyber-security, smart manufacturing, and climate/sustainability.
Building upon Schneider’s history and investments in Mexico and Schneider’s vision for de-carbonization, sustainability, resilience, efficiency and an all-electric world, the Leader of Government Relations, Mexico will work to enhance Schneider Mexico’s relationships with key government officials and industry organizations to promote a business and policy environment that is more favorable to our growth objectives, strategy, and company vision. The role is based in Mexico City and reports directly to the Vice President of North American (NAM) Government Relations in Washington, DC and to the President of Schneider Mexico. The person fulfilling this role will be integrated into a vibrant and diverse team of government relations professionals but integrated into Schneider Mexico’s leadership team and Schneider’s North American Strategy team, with key links to the company’s Business Units, Marketing/Communications, Legal, Global, and other core functions of the company.
In this role, the Leader will be responsible for internal and external activity, including the following:
Developing an internal government relations strategy and stakeholder map for Mexico;
Developing and deepening relationships with key influencers across a stakeholder map, including by organizing meetings with key government officials for the President of Mexico, CEO of North America, or other executives.
Acquiring and disseminating timely government relations information that pertains to Schneider Electric’s company business in Mexico;
Ensuring that the Government Relations function contributes effectively to the Mexico business plan and produces clear value and Return on Investment (ROI) for Schneider’s business;
Representing Schneider Electric in key Mexico industry association and working groups that pertain to Schneider Electric’s agenda and advance Schneider Electric’s strategy;
Proactively building coalitions with customers, industry partners and government agencies, and positioning Schneider Electric to win key projects;
Taking the lead to prepare and present as needed any necessary materials, updates, or content on government affairs for the President of Mexico or VP of NAM Government Relations;
Integrating the Mexico Government Relations objectives and plan within the broader marketing and communications plan for Mexico/NAM and working to defend and secure the necessary budget for any specialized projects.

5-7 years of experience in working in the field of government relations, for a government, regulators, company, or industry organization in Mexico so that you have valuable government relations background, skills, or relationships;
Outstanding teamwork, networking and collaboration skills at all levels in the organization;
Flexibility, independence, initiative and resilience to perform well in a constantly evolving policy environment and target-driven business environment;
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish and very skilled at creating presentations in power point and public speaking;
Enthusiastic, creative, and self-driven personality;
Ability to travel as needed across Mexico and into the United States;
Strong project management skills and ability to work on and balance multiple projects at the federal and state levels;
Strong time-management and prioritization skills;
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Political Science, Government Relations, Economics or Law, or similar;
Fluent in English and Spanish
