How does it Work?
The operator does not require any in-depth knowledge of Aquis. By scrolling back and forth on a simple button interface he can obtain the information he need such as pressure, flow and quality for any given point in time - in the past or in the future.
The Aquis model is fed with live information from the SCADA system as well as forecast information about weather conditions. This enables the model to predict future consumption even during periods of quickly changing or extreme weather conditions.
Different variables, such as supply pressure, age of the water, amount of chemicals in the water or flow can be displayed. Effects of interventions, such as opening or closing of valves can be assessed by simulations, which reveal disturbances in consumer supply.
Improved Network Overview
Aquis gives the operator full overview of all aspects of his distribution network. This will provide operational understanding of bottlenecks and potential performance of the network.
Aquis displays the data, such as age or pressure, with color coding all over the network, enabling the user to learn how the network is functioning at any given time.
The information can be made available to the call center. Error conditions or temporary problems will be evident. The call center can click on any node in the network to see measurements such as the water pressure at the specific location. Alarm setpoints for all parameters can be preconfigured.
The model has an accuracy of around 1%, which means that the model can, in most places, substitute the need for costly instrumentation – here alone the pay-back of Aquis is secured several times.
Prediction of Demand
Aquis is fully integrated with SCADA and can be prepared to send an alarm to the SCADA system if error conditions in the network are predicted. The Aquis system will constantly predict the demand of your network, which is based on history and on the current and future weather situation.
By a click of the mouse the operator can simulate the closing of a valve. Aquis will run prediction and return an alarm if one of the pre-configured set-points is exceeded. The operator will therefore quickly and easily be able to advise the staff in the field if it is safe to close a specific valve. Other related problems can be seen and avoided with intervention simulation.
Embedded Leakage Management System
The system facilitates an easier and quicker identification of leakages, theft or unidentified customers. Consequently the non-revenue water issue can also be addressed and appropriate action taken.
Improved planning – Maintenance – Refurbishment – Contingency Plans
With Aquis you can run scenarios of the network, prior to initiating maintenance work when planning for new neighborhood consumption. You can also experiment with different operational modes and prepare contingency plans.
What Went Wrong?
The call center is bombarded with calls from angry consumers having too little water pressure. This situation occurs – for various reasons.
Having Aquis allows you to perform a ‘replay’ of what has happened in the period of malperformance. This gives you the opportunity to ensure the consumers that it will not happen again, to learn more about your plant, or to run scenarios of how to alleviate this problem by adding new equipment.
Aquis offer a range of optimizing modules. They will all improve your operation and reduce your production cost as well as your CO2 emission.
