- Digital innovations integrate energy resources to ensure resilience and efficiency: Hassan El Ardy
1st of December 2019, Cairo, Egypt - Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy management and automation, participated in the 23rd edition of Cairo ICT 2019, held from the 1st to the 4th of December, under the theme of“The Digital Experience”at Egypt International Exhibition Center in New Cairo.
Schneider Electric's participation at this year's Cairo ICT 2019 comes as part of its continued commitment towards the Egyptian market, as well as its support for the country in its digital transformation plan, through the introduction of the latest innovative technology solutions in the field of energy, which will contribute to reducing operational costs, as well as achieving sustainability, efficiency, and security for their clients.
During the exhibition, Schneider Electric show cased its smart grid solutions that combine both information and operational technologies, with the aim to effectively balance between the company's innovations and client needs, and provide solutions for effectively managing electrical networks, along with the predictability and proactive maintenance of all problems simultaneously, as all facilities face the dilemma of balancing between having the highest operational capacity while reducing cost.
Eng. Walid Sheta, Schneider Electric’s Regional Cluster President of Egypt, North East Africa and Levant said: “We support the efforts of the Egyptian government in its pursuit for digital transformation, as well as expansion in the establishment of smart cities. This is possible through offering Schneider Electric's innovative solutions in smart electric grids, which achieve reliability and security, and reduce energy consumption, in addition to clean energy management and carbon emissions reduction.”
Sheta added: “Through EcoStruxure™ platform, we aim to deliver energy efficiency in all projects, whether renewable energy generation projects, or more efficient distribution of energy using Internet of Things, analytics and big data, as well as optimizing the efficiency of smart building networks in energy utilization, thus ensuring that all Schneider Electric clients have access to full support through IoT technology, in addition to achieving higher value in terms of efficiency, sustainability and connectivity to support infrastructure and ensure that data is converted into applicable procedures."
Eng. Hassan El-Ardy, Vice President Power Systems Business Unit for Schneider Electric Egypt, North East Africa &Levant Cluster, said:“With Egypt's drive towards expanding in the construction of smart cities, or so-called fourth-generation cities, it became necessary to have smart systems that effectively manage the energy and infrastructure in these cities, which is reflected in the gradual shift of the country's electricity sector from the current typical grid to the small grid.”
"The expected increase in global energy consumption over the coming years by 60%, highlights the importance of digital transformation in the management of the energy system, which is what the company is working to achieve through smart grids and Eco Struxure Grid, which represents a breakthrough in the future of electricity transmission and distribution at the moment," El-Ardyadded.
Eng. Sherif Abdel Fattah, Vice Chairman of Schneider Electric Egypt & Board member, said: “Distributed energy resources are changing the rules of operation of electricity distribution facilities, while digital innovations are integrating all these resources in a way that ensures resilience and efficiency. Although there are some challenges, reliance on digital technologies is set to improve the efficiency of distribution networks and the operation of utilities, as well as improve the capital expenditure and total expenses."
