Cairo - Egypt, July 11, 2021, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly visited today the regional factory of Schneider Electric, the leader in digital transformation of energy management and automation, in Badr Industrial City. The Prime Minister was accompanied by Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mrs. Nevine Gamea, Minister of Trade and Industry, and Major General Khaled Abdel Aal, Governor of Cairo, and Mohamed Abdel Wahab, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones.
This visit comes as part of a wider initiative to support and stimulate private sector investments in Egypt. Dr. Mostafa Madbouly inspected the various production lines in the factory, including the latest Control and Distribution Centers production cycle, the RM6 switchboard model, and the best-in-class smart ring main unit (RMU). These products are used both in Egypt, for projects such as the national distribution grid initiative, and exported abroad to other countries in Africa and the Middle East.
During the visit, the guests also observed the quality of the health, safety, and environment measures followed by all employees at the plant. To protect employees and ensure operational continuity, Schneider Electric promoted work-from-home for employees whose work duties could be performed remotely. Other employees and workers whose presence was needed onsite were provided with all recommended tools and policies to ensure their safety.
Eng. Sherif Abdel Fattah, a member of the Board of Directors of Schneider Electric Egypt, said: "The Prime Minister's visit to the regional Schneider Electric factory reflects how much the entire private sector is being empowered by the government. Such support promotes further investments and gives us—at Schneider Electric—the confidence we need to implement our development strategy aimed at innovation, localizing sustainable manufacturing, and maintaining world-class quality standards with a commitment to the Egyptian market."
Abdel Fattah added: "Schneider Electric has been involved in many important national projects in Egypt. Schneider Electric was recently awarded a contract for the production of 14 control and distribution centers over three phases. The first, which is already underway, includes the delivery of four centers. The second and third phases will include five centers each. Our Badr plant is fundamental to the development of technologies for these projects, such as our EcoStruxure smart software platform. And our own plant is reliant on hundreds of businesses across Egypt.. Through our factory in Badr Industrial City, we export approximately 30% of our production to 10 Arab and African countries and African."
Eng. Mohamed El Setouhy, the project manager, said: "Control centers allow operators to monitor and control the components of the electrical grid, thus giving them the tools to deal quickly with emergency technical problems to reduce downtime and electricity losses, whilst also planning ahead for future spikes in demand to ensure better efficiency for the grid. To deliver on that promise and make Egypt’s grid the smartest in the region, Schneider Electric uses its latest EcoStruxure technology, which is an AI-based platform that uses the Internet of Things to connect different business solutions and provide a high level of efficiency."
The RM6 units that will be used in the national distribution center project are designed to meet the requirements and improve the operational performance of networks, the safety of supplies, and the continuity of services, next to being unaffected by environmental variables. They are made at the Badr Plant.
