Schneider Electric signs a memorandum of understating (MoU) with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to build the City of knowledge in The New Administrative Capital, east of Cairo

The 300-acre City of Knowledge is planned to be a regional hub for high-tech innovation and scientific development. Foreseen to be home for technology-focused research and development centers and innovation institutions, with a focus on Internet of Things Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, embedded systems and electronic design.
Under the new deal, Schneider Electric Egypt, North East Africa & Levant will provide innovative IoT-enabled EcoStruxure operating technologies to make Smart, Sustainable and Efficient buildings and enable the implementation of digital strategies at the City. Schneider Electric will also provide its technical expertise to enhance the skills of Egyptian calibers.
The city will rely on Schneider Electric's integration technology and infrastructure solutions to manage a myriad of separate systems such as Electricity and Water, HVAC, Data Centers and Networks, Traffic Control, Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) software and more.
"Taking part in the construction of the City of Knowledge is a significant milestone for us and a great opportunity to support Egypt with the latest technologies of future cities that Schneider Electric specializes in globally," said Walid Sheta, Schneider Electric's Regional Cluster Head of North East Africa and Levant. EcoStruxure platform solutions will make the best use of IoT in all technological and industrial processes of the project.
He also added that the Knowledge City will provide an excellent model both for Egypt and the region of how smart cities can improve livability, workability and sustainability. While considering the country's economic, socio-cultural and environmental conditions.
The company will be providing its cutting-edge smart cities technology to achieve sustainability and higher level of efficiency through all production phases, said Schneider Electric's Vice President for Governmental Affairs & Renewable Energy Sherif Abdel Fattah.

It is also worth mentioning, That Schneider Electric is considering relocating its headquarters in New Cairo to the City of Knowledge upon completion.
