Schneider Electric Wins “Top Governmental Engagement Award” in 2017

  • The award was received from Business Today as part of the top 50 companies in 2017

Cairo, Egypt: 19 February, 2018

Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management and automation, has been selected among the top 100 largest contributors to Egypt's economic growth in 2017 by Business Today Magazine's BT100 ranking. The company received the “Top Governmental Engagement Award” amongst all Egyptian companies in the market.

The award has for a decade been presented to the top-ranked Egyptian companies and business leaders based on performance on the country's stock exchange. This year's awards have been granted to the top 50 companies and the top 50 business leaders who have been instrumental in fostering economic development in Egypt.

Schneider was also the silver sponsor of this year's ceremony, held on Monday in a first-class Cairo hotel and attended by a number of Egyptian ministers as well as business and finance leaders.

Schneider Electric was named as one of the best-performing state partners following a period of close cooperation in some of the country's key national development projects including the mammoth Zohr gas field, the West Nile Delta gas field and the New Administrative Capital. Schneider has also been a key partner in the electricity ministry's ambitious plan to boost power generation as well as a number of renewable energy projects.

"Selecting Schneider Electric as a top government partner affirms the company's active role in backing the Egyptian economy. The nomination was based on market studies and researches conducted by economic experts to assess the performance of companies operating in the Egyptian market," said Walid Sheta, Schneider Electric's Regional Cluster Head of North East Africa and Levant.

“Business Today's BT100 reflects the magazine's confidence in the role business institutions play to improve market performance and contribute to the government's ambitious reform program to revive the economy,” Sheta noted.
