Symmetra PX; Bypass not in Range messages

Article available in these languages: Español

Issue:
Symmetra PX; Bypass not in Range
Product line:
Symmetra PX
Environment:
All models, all serial numbers
Cause:
Bypass not in range messages are generated whenever the AC input voltage goes outside of the acceptable bypass criteria (-10%/+12%).
The voltage thresholds are:

Input Voltage - Normal Operation = 166-240Vac (-20/+15%) or 96-138Vac (L-N)
BYP voltage range = 187-229Vac (-10/+10%) or 108-132Vac (L-N)
Output Frequency (sync to mains) 57 - 63 Hz for 60 Hz nominal
Input frequency tolerance 40-70Hz with 10Hz/sec
If the input voltage drops below a certain threshold, the UPS will switch to battery power to maintain a stable output1. This ensures that connected devices continue to receive power without interruption.
The input frequency (Hz)  tolerance is between 40-70HZ with 10Hz slew rate. UPS alert users about  frequency issues if goes out of limit for 10HZ /sec. This allows for timely intervention to address the underlying power quality problems.
The bypass frequency tolerance is between 57 - 63 Hz for a 60 Hz nominal setting, with the following slew rate settings (different settings are possible as listed below). In this configuration, the UPS alerts users about frequency issues if they go out of limit and will not allow the inverter to synchronize, may have break transfer if there is an issue with the inverter. If there is no issue with the inverter at the time of bypass outside tolerance, the UPS will alert that the bypass is outside tolerance, but the inverter will protect the load. This allows for timely intervention to address the underlying power quality problems.
This event can also be generated if the bypass  frequency falls outside the UPS output frequency setting.
You can configure the output frequency on the Power View:
60 Hz +/- 0.1 Hz
60 Hz +/- 3 Hz
60 Hz +/- 10 Hz
50Hz +/- 0.1 Hz
50Hz +/-3Hz
50Hz +/-10Hz
For example, if the output frequency is set to 60 Hz +/- 0.1 Hz and the frequency is 60.2 Hz you will have this alarm. If you wish to adjust the output frequency you must do so in Load Disconnect mode.
Resolution:
No action necessary
