What's the definition of an element referred to in an ION meter's installation manual in the wiring diagram section for current transformers (CT) and potential transformers (PT or voltage transformers)?

Any measured Vx-Ix (i.e. Va and Ia) couple is defined as an element. If any of these quantities is calculated (NOT MEASURED), then it is not considered as an element anymore. Additionally, if only one component of a Vx-Ix couple (either Vx or Ix) is measured where as the other is calculated, this is called a ½ element.
