Vacuum Circuit Breaker (VCB) is an electrical circuit breaker is a switching device that controls and protects the electrical power system, either manually or automatically, from overloads and short circuits. Its basic function is to interrupt the current flow, using fixed and moving contacts that are permanently sealed in a vacuum.

How does Vacuum Circuit Breaker work?
A fault is commonly detected by a protection relay, triggering operation of the VCB, which separates the electrical contacts within a vacuum interrupter, resulting in interruption of the current with minimal arcing and contact wear.
