What can cause error B103 on Lexium 32M drives when controlled via Ethernet or Modbus TCP ?

Published date: 24 July 2018

The error B103 is displayed when communication channel has closed.
One of the most common causes for this is due to excess network traffic which causes a buffer over-run within the drive.
Excess network traffic is a result of the message time interval setting in the PLC being set too short.  <5ms

If random B103 errors are occurring then please increase the scan time interval setting in the PLC to a value greater than 5ms or even higher if there are many drives on the network.
