Schneider Electric has an opportunity for a Solutions Sales Engineer in our Canadian locations (will cover Alberta, Saskatchewan & Manitoba). The Sales Engineer is responsible for selling Digital Power solutions to our end-user customers and to promote, expose and specify those solutions to Engineering Firms.  

Must possess the ability to build solutions by understanding the customer context, including all stakeholders, process and needs, as well as technical complexity induced by the integration of numerous interconnected components and sub-systems.

What do you get to do in this position? 


  • Understand customer applications for managing their power distribution system. 

  • Demonstrate the value proposition of Schneider EcoStruxure Power enabling the digital transformation of our customer’s power distribution. 

  • Bring differentiation and innovation to our customers, addressing business needs, process constraints, and technical challenges. 

  • Prepare and negotiate with the customer operational description of the solution, as well as the functional description including quantified performance levels and related budgets (Build the business case to enable the sell) 

  • Prescribe SE Digital Power offers and influence tender specifications to Engineering firms. 

  • Adapt reference architectures (e.g. TVDA) prepared for his market to elaborate a solution in line with customer expectations, while re-using to save time, optimize costs and reduce risks.  

  • Anticipate complementary functions selling opportunities for some add-ons in a later stage of the project. 




  • Solution Selling: 

  • Promote the unique EcoStruxure Power Value Propositions for the end-customer segment application to influence customers/consultants by prescribing differentiating architectures and “poison pills” very early in the customer project lifecycle (e.g. via L&L, customer events, specific initiatives or presentations). 

  • Understand and consolidate customer needs  

  • Adapt reference architectures to meet specific customer needs.  

  • Perform gap analysis between customer needs and reference architectures when applicable and adapt the proposed architecture and project scope to satisfy key decision criteria for the customer (functions, performance & budget) 

  • Work with end users and consultants to influence the specifications and prescribe EcoStruxure Power offers with differentiating features and benefits. (Build the business case to enable the sell) 

  • Contribute to Integrated Solutions selling, in close cooperation with other relevant team members (e.g. specifiers) for selected end users and/or engineering firms. 

  • Networking and Internal Collaboration to increase customer reach and have an account focused approach 

  • Drive the Internal Specifier Engagement through pipeline review 

  • Network with other End-user sales team to review and targeted key accounts to focus on 

  • Solution Marketing: 

  • Interacts with Segment and System architects to understand/adapt reference architecture to customer needs 

  • Feed our Marketing with updated market trends and status (competition, offer gap, pricing etc…) 

  • Oversee Solution Execution and Tender 

  • Oversee the Tender Management process so that each component, matching the envisioned architecture and key decision criteria. 

  • Oversee the project manager during execution phase to ensure customer satisfaction. 

  • Sales and Order Management 

  • Manage Digital Power Orders and Sales within the region using sales management and reporting tools available

This job might be for you if: 

  • Engineering Degree aligned with Power Distribution or Communication networks– Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics & software  

  • Sales Experience: 5-10 years’ experience in sales in Industrial & Commercial segments (e.g. Healthcare, MMM, Transportation, Datacenter and Telco) leading to good knowledge of customer vocabulary, pain-points, expectations and deliverables.  

  • System architecture methodology, starting from customer needs identification 

  • Ability to influence and convince 

  • Communication skills (internal & external)  

  • Ability to foster cooperation
