Issue:
How to use a Self-Powered hub with PowerChute Personal Edition
Product Line:
PowerChute Personal Edition
Environment:
All supported Windows OS
*A "self-powered" hub gets its power from the wall outlet rather than directly from the PC.
Cause:
If you are using a self-powered USB hub to connect multiple devices to your PC, plug the hub's power cable into the Battery Backup outlet. Don't use the wall socket. This will ensure that the hub and the connected devices still work during a power failure. It will also slow down the system shutdown initiated by the UPS or the user.
Solution:
1. Connect the Power Cable of the Battery Backup to the PC.
2. Connect the Power Cable of the hub to the Battery Backup outlet.
3. Connect the devices (printer, scanner, mobile phone, etc.) to the self-powered hub and plug the Hub Communications Cable into the USB port on the PC.
4. Connect the Battery Backup USB Cable of the Battery Backup directly into a USB port located on the PC.
