Can the 13A plug be used on an appliance which is only rated at 3amps or 5amps?

Yes, all BS 1363 13A Plug tops have to be rated at the maximum permitted current rating of 13A. All plugs must be fitted with the appropriate fuse link which is dependent upon the maximum rating of the appliance to ensure full protection.
