Schneider Electric receives the prestigious 2017 Working Mother & AVTAR Top 10 Best Companies for Women in India (BCWI) Award

New Delhi, November 20, 2017 – Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management and automation, today received the prestigious 2017 Working Mother & AVTAR Top 10 Best Companies for Women in India (BCWI) award. The award was presented to the top ten organisations who were identified as best in class based on a study conducted by India's first diversity advocate and workplace inclusion expert, AVTAR Group, in partnership with Working Mother Media. The award is an acknowledgement of Schneider Electric’s focus on bringing in gender parity not only within the organisation but in the society at large. The study also revealed that the women representation in the corporate India had witnessed an increase of five percent point, signifying the positive movement towards diversity and gender parity by organisations.

The study was launched in March 2017 on Women’s Day and received an overwhelming response from corporates with a registration figure of 350 companies. The selection procedure included a robust data-protected analytics tool that picked up the 100 Best Companies for Women in India from the applicant companies. This initiative aims to identify, share, showcase and celebrate best practices from India’s best employers to foster women’s career advancement.

Receiving the award, Mr. Anil Chaudhry, Managing Director and Country President, Schneider Electric India said, “It is an honour to receive the AVTAR Award, 2017, we see it as an acknowledgment of the work Schneider Electric is passionately pursuing in the space of gender empowerment and parity. The world of work is changing and is becoming more complex every day, to navigate this smoothly we need to have a layered and multifaceted approach. Women in our work place and in leadership are equal partners in addressing the challenges of this changed economic reality.”

The selection procedure analysed the registered organisations on parameters like workforce profile, policies for women recruitment, retention and advancement, policies for safety and security, flexible working, paid leave, benefits and other career enablers, culture and work-life programs. This was second edition of the study conducted in India.

Presenting the award, Dr. Saundarya Rajesh, Founder – President, AVTAR Group, said, “Corporate India’s focus on recruiting and expanding their women employee base has been laudable. Going by the data (a 5% increase in women’s representation in one year), the Best Companies for Women in India may get to their goal of gender balance in another 5-6 years’ time.
