Switchgear Components

Ready to overcome the challenges of building efficient, dependable medium voltage panels and switchgear?

We provide best-in-class core components that help panel builders and distributors streamline assembly, accelerate project timelines, and ensure uncompromising quality. Simplify your switchgear completion process and deliver exceptional performance with solutions you can trust.

Our comprehensive range of key components includes:

  • Circuit Breakers: Protective devices that automatically disconnect circuits in the event of a fault, thus preventing damage to the installation and ensuring a safer system.
  • MV switches and disconnectors: Indoor switchgear designed to switch and operate energized and de-energized electrical circuits under load conditions.
  • MV fuses: Protective components that blown to interrupt the flow of current in electrical systems when a fault occurs, helping to protect equipment such as transformers or electrical grid.
  • Protection and control, metering and feeder automation: Protection relays, Arc flash and Metering devices enable monitoring and control of switchgear by detecting abnormal operating conditions, helping to prevent severe damage and reduce the need for unplanned maintenance.

Switchgear is more than a protective device. It’s a critical part of keeping our power grids reliable and resilient.

An electric circuit breaker is a switching device that controls and protects the electrical power system, either manually or automatically, from harm caused by overload or short circuits. Its primary function is to obstruct the current flow once the protective relays detect a fault. The risk of electrocution, electrical fires, and electrical shocks is high in the lack of a circuit breaker.

Based on factors like the voltage, interrupting mechanism, or installation location, there are different types of circuit breakers. Depending upon the installation location, there are two types of circuit breakers.

  1. Outdoor Circuit breakers- Owing to their unique design, these circuit breakers can be used outdoors without a roof. With a sturdy exterior enclosure, these breakers can withstand wear and tear.
  2. Indoor Circuit breakers- Designed with a metal-clad switchgear enclosure, these breakers are used inside buildings or in weather-resistant enclosures. Indoor circuit breakers typically function at a medium voltage.

An example of a commonly used indoor circuit breaker is a vacuum circuit breaker panel or vacuum circuit breaker in which the arc quenching occurs inside a vacuum medium that provides high insulating strength. Switching on and off vcb breaker current carrying contacts and interrelated interruption occurs in a vacuum chamber in the breaker called a vacuum interrupter. A superior dielectric medium is used in the vacuum circuit breaker panel, the strength of which increases up to a thousand times by the interruption of the arc.

There are multiple benefits of installing circuit breakers.

  1. Due to optimised power transmission of precision coordinated subassemblies, they have a very high mechanical service life.
  2. They have a flexible application because of the compact design.
  3. The design is such that they offer shorter delivery times.
  4. They facilitate fast retrofitting.
  5. Any previous model of circuit breaker can be replaced with a new one.

The additional advantages of vcb circuit breaker or vacuum circuit breakers include more proficiency, less weight, less cost, higher life span, and little maintenance requirement. In the electrical and electronics world, mishaps occur more frequently than one can imagine, leading to severe damage to life and property alike. Therefore, safeguarding buildings, schools, hospitals, industries, etc., from electric fires and short circuits becomes imperative.

Applications of Vacuum Circuit Breaker

VCB circuit breakers are dependable current interruption components suitable for medium voltage switchgear. It can function seamlessly with minimum maintenance. A vcb circuit breaker is vital for reliable and safe power. They are exceptionally durable and appropriate for fault clearing. vacuum circuit breakers are used in porcelain-housed circuit breakers and metal-clad switchgear. vcb breaker is used in:

  • Generators and substations
  • Operations that need high-switching sequences
  • Switching between motor drives
