Why can I not fully view the web page of some devices launched on the private LAN of StruxureWare Data Center Expert?
Issue:
Can not view private side device that uses Java applet in DCE
Product Line:
StruxureWare Data Center Expert (DCE)
InfraStruxure Central
Environment:
Any version 7.x and lower with devices on the secondary or private LAN.
Cause:
When you are running the DCE console on a computer on the public LAN and double click a device on the private LAN and try to launch to it, the web page will not be able to fully launch if a Java Applet or similar download is required. There is a proxy server within StruxureWare that allows for the launching to devices on the private LAN. This proxy and related network configuration does not allow for the downloading of Java Applets or Active-X controls.
Resolution:
Any private LAN device that requires the web page to download a Java Applet to be properly viewed can not be launched on a computer on the public LAN. To be able to launch to the device and view it's web page properly, the system launching to the device must be on the same LAN as the device itself.
If you have a laptop on the private LAN of DCE, you can properly launch to a private side device that requires a Java applet. If you must view the device from a system on the public LAN, the device must also reside on the public LAN.
This will not be addressed in DCE 7.x.
