The gesture, which is called Giving Tuesday, an initiative of the Schneider Electric Foundation, has occasioned the rallying of the Group's employees to support its partner associations. Its actions are an integral part of the Schneider Sustainability Impact, which measures the company's non-financial performance. The 2018 Giving Tuesday involved the company's employees in 40 countries.
Speaking to journalists on this year's Giving Tuesday, the Project Coordinator, Marketing Communication, Global Operations of the company, Mr. Isaac Adeleke said, "Giving Tuesday serves as a platform to transform and give back to our community. This year, Schneider Electric Nigeria partnered with Light Up a Precious Life (the NGO of JustStandOut) and Bolamark Engineering to donate a premium solar solution to power Hearts of Gold.
"This solution is sure to improve the quality of lives of the children and their care takers. Let's spread the joy this holiday season by #givingback."
At the event, which was held at the premises of Hearts of Gold, Schneider Electric was represented by Head of Building BU Sales, Mr. Mojola Ola, while JustStandOut, Bolamark Engineering and Hearts of Gold were represented by Mr. Joseph Iyang; Alhaji Bola Azeez and Mrs. Adedoyin respectively.
This global movement to promote giving, and a commitment to helping others, was celebrated for the first time on November 27th, 2018 in France and countries where Schneider Electric operates.
Giving his remarks on the 2018 Giving Tuesday, the Sustainability Senior Vice-President and General Delegate of the Foundation for Schneider Electric, Mr Gilles Vermot Desroches said, "Schneider Electric Foundation – since its creation – has put the engagement of employees at the heart of its ambition. Through its NGOs partners, it works across the globe thanks to its network of 130 delegates located in the countries where the Group operates. Since 2005, the energy we have put into this program has been an integral part of the Schneider Sustainability Impact and contributes to a fairer and lower-carbon society. Our involvement in #GivingTuesday allows us to federate the energy of the people within Schneider Electric.”
