Could not log into PL Network Server - General Failure on server" Error When Attempting to Open WAGES DevCon Utility

Goals and Symptoms

When the user tries to open the WAGES DevCon Utility from the Start Menu or from the Tools menu in the System Manager Software (SMS) Setup Utility, the following error is displayed.

Causes and Fixes

The cause of this issue is that the SMS Setup Utility has lost its connection to the PowerLogic Network Server. In the instance in which this issue was seen, there were two separate Remote Desktop sessions running to the server PC. When the PowerLogic Network Server was restarted on one of the Remote Desktop connections, the Setup Utility on the other connection lost its connection to the PowerLogic Network Server. For this reason, the WAGES DevCon Utility would not open on either server.

To resolve this issue, the SMS Setup Utility must be closed and reopened if the PowerLogic Network Server has been restarted or has stopped in any Remote Desktop instance.
