Rack densities and CDU/GPU capacities require a new architecture, design approach, and cooling solution based on liquid cooling.
We see promise in liquid cooling for data centres
The liquid cooling introduction is a game changer for data centres in general and for IT cooling in particular. Our portfolio and support will assist both the next generation of data centre and the transition from air to liquid.
Schneider Electric's strengthens its cooling portfolio with Motivair
In an announcement made on 17 October 2024, Schneider Electric has signed an agreement to acquire a controlling interest in Motivair Corporation, a company specialised in liquid cooling and advanced thermal management solutions for high-performance computing systems.
To win the density race, liquid cooling is the only way
Current and expected CPU and GPU thermal design power increase continuously. Air cooling systems easily reject rack densities up to 40 kW. 2021 ASHRAE guidelines for 50 kW+ force air temperature to be so low that is not sustainable anymore. Liquid cooling is the only viable solution for high densities.
Liquid cooling is the sustainable choice
Liquid cooling applied to low-density racks allows compressor-less solutions and a white space redesign, compensated by a huge saving in CO₂ emissions and OpEx. For high densities, there’s no other way than liquid.
For every white space
Liquid cooling means more than one technology: direct-to-chip, positive pressure, precision liquid cooling, and immersion. Our approach is open to each of them, developing the proper heat rejection infrastructure suitable for all the technologies.
The best-fit data centre design
High-density AI clusters and liquid cooling are pushing the boundaries of data centres. Our data centre reference designs address such challenges, support, and reduce the planning process by providing validated, proven, and documented data centre physical infrastructure designs
Liquid cooling requires an innovative, end-to-end, but agnostic approach. Our complete and broad cooling portfolio, from white space to heat rejection, supports you in the next challenges with liquid cooling.
Heat rejection units
Our chillers, specifically designed for data centres accepted the liquid cooling challenge. High efficiency and extreme flexibility bring our services ready for tailor-made solutions for our customers.
The innovative and energy efficient solution to separate the facility water system (FWS) from the technology cooling system (TCS). Liquid cooling applied to low-density racks allows compressor-less solutions and a white space redesign compensate by a huge saving in CO₂ emissions and OpEx. For high densities, there’s no other way than liquid.
Liquid cooling and AI complement, not replace air-cooling units. Boost cooling power with our chilled water and direct expansion units – perfect for auxiliary rooms or supplementing liquid cooling systems.
While liquid cooling captures approximately 80% of the heat, the remaining 20% is rejected to air. InRow cooling is a flexible, close-couple method for efficiently cooling the servers while remaining independent of the server rack.
