Can a BMENOS0300 switch be used in an M580 Hot Standby local backplane?

Yes, the BMENOS0300 switch can be used in an M580 Hot Standby local backplane but there are rules/restrictions that must be followed.

1. You can not use a BMENOS0300 in the local M580 Hot Standby backplane if ERIO drops are used.
2. You can not use a BMENOS0300 in the local M580 Hot Standby backplane if a BMENOC0301/11 is used with the Ethernet backplane port activate for that BMENOC0301/11 module.

To summarize, only one device can access the backplane port in an M580 Hot Standby configuration. Either the M580 HSBY CPU with ERIO modules or one BMENOS0300 or one BMENOC0301/11.

The Ethernet backplane port of each BMENOS0300 module is activated by default and will cause the Hot Standby system to cease functioning properly if the rules are not followed.
