Senior Designer
Job Description
This position is for a Senior Designer for the Design Center located at Franklin, Tennessee responsible to provide support to new product development & continuous engineering teams for electromechanical design, prototype ordering & testing efforts for Low Voltage Equipment projects. Experienced designer able to work independently with agile design thinking and able to execute small to medium Projects and collaborate in cross-functional meetings in a virtual environment. Must be self-motivated and team orientated, adaptable, committed to setting and meeting schedules, able to manage multiple priorities, and able to work with minimal supervision and have effective communication skills. Occasional domestic travel may be required.
Qualifications

BS. Industrial Designer or equivalent associate degree.

5 years of experience in the Industry with Low Voltage Equipment design.

Experience with agile tools (scrum & Kanban) to support design process.

Understands customer needs and/or requirements.

2D and 3D Software proficiency is a must, Creo and AutoCAD.

Reads design specifications and technical drawings.

Sheet metal design and bill of Material creation.

Able to Interpret and apply wiring diagrams is preferred.

Ability to do tolerance analysis and GD&T.

Design of sheet metal parts; design of plastic moldings parts is preferred.

Computer literate with Microsoft Office suite of tools.

Assist in the design and fabrication of mock-ups and prototypes.

Assists with testing of prototypes to ensure quality standards are met.

Assists with new product documentation and introduction.

Identifies important and relevant information for the design intent.

Understands Electrical Distribution products and assembly processes.

Maintains and updates documentation structure related to applicable product development/evolution by using internal and standard software.

Prepares presentations and written reports.

Works to UL, NEMA, IEC and other standards

Ability to work effectively in an AGILE and virtual environment.

Ability to identify parameters in parts than can help to reduce its cost.

Is familiar with Product Development.

Willingness to put in time and effort to accomplish challenging goals.
