Configuring Command Files for use with Powerchute Business Edition
Issue:
How to configure command files for use with PowerChute Business Edition.

Product:
PowerChute Business Edition (PCBE)

Environment:
All supported Windows operating systems

Cause:
Incorrectly configured command files.

Solution:
To correctly configure command files for use with PCBE, follow these steps:
  1. Create a .cmd or .bat file, and insert it into the cmdfiles folder of PowerChute. The @START must be used if the command file is calling an executable file (.exe). Ensure the correct syntax is used, for example:
@START”” “C:\<testdir>\<myfile>.exe” with correct directory and file name.
Multiple line commands do not always execute properly. In this configuration, a single line command file is used to call the subsequent multiple line command file.
  1. Navigate to your events. Choose the command file for the event that you want to set up from the individual dropdown lists. If you are running 9.1 Agent, go to the Shutdown setting page, choose cmdfile and select the test button.
Events, for version 9.1, can also be configured  to run from the web UI.
  1. If the test fails:
  • Navigate to Services.
  • Right click on the Agent Service.
  • Select Properties.
  • Click on the “Log on” tab.
  • Stop and restart the Agent service if the test fails.

You can test that the command file is operating correctly by running a simple command file.
1.      Create a directory, named apctest, directly to the C drive.
2.      Type the following line in a command file  to create a file named cmdtest.txt, and the time that the file was run, in the apctest:
time /T >> C:\apctest\cmdtest.txt
