What is the definition of the shutdown types in PowerChute Business Edition?
Published date:
18 December 2020
Issue:
Need to know the different shutdown types in PowerChute Business Edition.
Product Line:
PowerChute Business Edition
Environment:
All supported Windows OS
Cause:
Informational
Solution:
Depending on the UPS model and the version of PowerChute the options are
Shutdown
Shutdown and off
Hibernate
Both the Shut Down options shut down your operating system. Shut Down and Off also turns off your computer. If your computer BIOS power management setting is set to [Last State], the computer does not turn on again automatically when the UPS resumes the supply of power. If your computer BIOS power management setting is set to [Always On], the computer does turn on again. For assistance with the system BIOS see Kbase FA159550.
If the OS is Windows 2003, 2008, or 2012 see Kbase FA159604 for restart issues.
NOTE: Hibernation must be enabled before it can be selected and it is not available in PowerChute Business Edition Agent versions 9.1, 9.1.1, 9.2, 9.2.1, 9.5, 10 Warning: With hibernation as your shutdown type, PowerChute scheduled shutdown operations do not perform normally. You should not schedule shutdowns when hibernation is in use.
