Published date: 26 November 2019

Issue
What standard does the ION8650 meter use to calculate Voltage unbalance?

Product Line
ION8650 series meter

Environment
Technical Datasheet, ION Setup

Cause
Voltage unbalance calculation

Resolution
For the ION8650, the voltage unbalance is calculated in different places. The standard used for the ION8650 meter to calculate voltage unbalance, is in compliance with IEC61000-4-30.
Vunbalanced = (negative sequence/positive sequence)*100%.

If you want to have the calculation as described in NEMA MG1-14.34, an arithmetic module can be used. Inputs would be S1: Vab, S2: Vbc, S3: Vca, S4, Vavg LL. Formula 1: abs(S1-S4), Formula 2: abs(S2-S4), Formula 3: abs(S3-S4), Formula 4: max(R1,R2,R3)/S4 *100

See ION Reference for detail operation of the arithmetic module.
