VMware 5.5 vCenter host operations are not performed if the DNS name for host in ESXi does not match DNS name for the host in vCenter Server.

Issue:
VMware vCenter host operations are not performed if the DNS name for host in ESXi does not match DNS name for the host in vCenter Server. e.g. Host are not powered down.

Product:
PowerChute Network Shutdown 4.0

Environment:
vCenter Server 5.5

Cause:
Mismatched domain name
NOTE: for vCenter Server 5.5 domain names are case sensitive!

Solution:
Verify that the domain name entered on the ESXi host is the same name entered in vCenter Server.

A test can be run via MOB on the host
Log into the host web page https://<host IP or domain name>/mob
Select content, then select searchIndex/ha-searchindex, then select FindByDnsName
Delete the information in the datacenter VALUE box, enter the domain name in the dnsName VALUE box, enter false in the vmSearch VALUE box,  then click Invoke Method that is in the lower right corner of the page.
