Acti9 Miniature Circuit Breakers - MCBs

A Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB) is an automatically operated electrical switch designed to protect low-voltage electrical circuits from damage caused by overloads or short circuits. When abnormal current flow is detected, the MCB quickly shuts off the circuit, preventing faults and ensuring safe operation. More sensitive than traditional fuses, an MCB provides reliable detection and fault isolation, with a clear indication of the defective zone when tripped.

Applications of miniature circuit breakers:

  • Heaters: Prevent voltage fluctuations by managing high power demand safely.
  • Electric panels: Provide overload protection with greater reliability than fuses.
  • Industrial settings: Protect machinery in both small and large-scale industries, supporting power supplies up to 30 kA.
  • Residential use: Commonly installed in homes to safeguard appliances and wiring from overload or short-circuit risks.

How a miniature circuit breaker works:

When excess current flows through an MCB, a bimetallic strip heats up and bends. This action releases a latch, which instantly switches off the MCB and interrupts the current flow. By cutting off the power supply, the MCB prevents damage to connected equipment and reduces the risk of fire or electrical accidents. To restore the circuit, the MCB must be manually reset.
