What does the "typical" data on the energy usage screen mean?

issue:
Wiser Home Management System end user inquires about "typical energy usage" displayed on the wiserenergy.com Energy tab.  Customer believes that the energy consumed or the estimate cost is not accurate.

Cause:
Some people are confused by the "typical energy usage" data presented on wiserenergy.com.  

Resolution: 
The typical energy consumption information is based on energy averages from the Wiser Systems geographical area.  The value comes from publicly available data from the EIA (Energy Information Adminstration).   The Typical Data can serve a tool for the home owner to compare how well his home is doing compared to others in the region.  Most homes in the United States are extremely high energy users in the global context.
