Schneider Electric, the global leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, has been selected among the Top 25 Corporate Startup Stars in 2020. For the fifth year running, startups were asked to nominate corporates most active in open innovation, as part of the Corporate Startup Stars Awards, a prestigious annual prize launched under the European Commission’s Startup Europe Partnership initiative in 2016 in recognition of the world’s most active corporates working with startups and identifying worldwide best practices in corporate-startup collaboration.
This year the nomination process went global thanks to a partnership consolidated between Mind the Bridge and ICC earlier this year.
“The Global Corporate Startup Stars (CSS) awards recognize and celebrate innovation across the world in all of its diverse forms. Whereas once, Silicon Valley was the pillar of “Open Innovation” and all countries wished to copy Silicon Valley, these days are foregone as each region and country across the world finds their own way to innovate and celebrate their successes,” said Alberto Onetti, Chairman of Mind the Bridge. “This year, after four European editions, Corporate Startup Stars, thanks to the support of ICC, has branched out globally to discover new ways of innovating and new ways of corporations to collaborate with startups around the world.”
As our CEO Jean-Pascal Tricoire has said, “No company can work in a silo to advance real change.” We work hand in hand with entrepreneurs, technology partners, startups, partners, and more to accelerate the development of new business models and technology.
In addition to innovating in our core business, partnering with external companies and startups allows us to take risks and leverage the creativity and skills of the world outside Schneider Electric to help us innovate for tomorrow. The startup partnerships are key to an innovation ecosystem, and building an innovation ecosystem means working with a large portfolio of companies and partners. We work with venture capitalists, customers, partners, and collaborate with startups to form and scale new businesses. Entrepreneurs have a strong vision, enjoy risk, and are nimble enough to pivot quickly, making them ideal partners to test new technology or business models.
We are committed to creating an innovation ecosystem with startups and partners to help move the entire industry forward towards a new energy landscape.
