In most cases, a user can only manually reset the peak demand values from the menu options in ION setup or from the front panel display of the meter. There is not an automatic demand reset capability by default on the meters.

The following steps display custom programming that can be set up on an ION meter or in the Virtual ION Processor (VIP) within the Designer application.

1. First create a sliding window demand module and link it to the desired measurement. To calculate demand for power, current and voltage, 3 different sliding window demand modules will be required.
2. Set the sub interval length and the # of sub intervals in setup registers and save the module. This will compute the demand value.

3. To compute the peak demand value, link the output of the sliding window demand module to the source input of a maximum module.
The output of the maximum module will hold the peak demand value for the measurement linked to the input of the sliding window demand module.

4. To set up an automatic reset of the peak demand module, link the reset input of the maximum module to the desired pulse output of a clock module.
Linking the reset input of the maximum module to the "New Month" pulse output of the clock module will cause the maximum module to reset at the beginning of each month.
