On Windows 8.1, 10 or Windows Server 2008, 2012 or 2016 for some applications the Unity Pro or EcoStruxure Control Expert simulator is starting with exception.
To avoid this wrong behavior, launch the attached file, and reboot the PC.
Other possibility is to modify or to create manually, as below, some keys inside the Windows registry:
For 32 bits Windows versions
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\sim.exe, Name "DisableExceptionChainValidation", REG_DWORD, value 1.
For 64 bits Windows versions
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\sim.exe, Name “DisableExceptionChainValidation", REG_DWORD, value 1.
