Published date: 21 December 2018

When opening the Diagnostics Viewer from Management Console in Power Monitoring Expert (PME) the data does not populate.
At the bottom of the Viewer window is the error:
"The source was not found, but some or all event logs could not be searched.
To create the source, you need permission to read all event logs to make sure that the new source name is unique.
      Inaccessible logs: Security..."

When Diagnostic Viewer is closed the following error is displayed.

Product Line
PME 7.x, 8.x  Base, Data Center and Health Care editions

Windows Server distributed installations

Operating Systems continue to become more and more secure.
Customer sites have different level of security enabled both on their servers and between their servers.
On some machines PME by default does not have the level of access needed to all files for full functionality.
This can be by design of each sites security team and always varies by customer.
The Diagnostics Viewer needs to be able to acces files that are presently outside of the programs allowed secuirty parameters

To allow the Diagnostic Vewer to access all needed files it must be ran with elevated credentials.
1.) Locate Diagviewer.exe in the installation drive Power Monitoring Expert\System\bin folder
2.) Right click Diagviewer.exe and select "Run as administrator"
This initial run gives Diagnostics Viewer the access it needs and can now be opened from the normal method of selecting it in Management Console at any time.

With a distributed system, (SQL is on a separate server from PME), an error "could not load file or assembly..." may display next.
If you see this please follow FA240768 to bring Diagnostics Viewer to full functionality.
