Can a 10Base-FL Fiber port on an ION meter be connected to a 100Base-FL Network?
Issue:
Can a 10Base-FL Fiber port be connected to a 100Base-FL Network?
Product Line:
ION7700; ION7550/7650; ION8600; ION8800; ION8500; ION8400; ION8300; ION7500/7600
Environment:
10Base-FL Fiber connections
Cause:
A Fiber network must be matched at both ends, so the 10Base-FL port on an ION meter must be connected to a 10Base-FL network.
Resolution:
The Ethernet (10Base-T) port is different in that it can auto negotiate and determine whether it is connected to 10 or 100 Base-T network. Even when the meter is connected to 100Base-T, the speed is limited to 10 Mbps.
