Issue

Is there a KVM switch that supports USB peripherals?

Product Line
  • Rack Accessories
    • KVM Switches

Environment
  • All installation scenarios
  • Users requiring KVMs with USB capability for local console access

Cause

General information for users.

Resolution

The current line of KVM switches (KVMXXXX) have USB peripheral (keyboard and mouse) support for the local KVM console. Additionally, the older, discontinued AP56XX models support USB peripherals for the local console connection.

Note:On the Digital/Enterprise IP KVMs (all but the KVM0108A, KVM0116A and AP5602), there is an additional USB port for Virtual Media support. You must use a Virtual Media server module for your particular KVM series and have an operating system that supports Virtual Media.
