Video: ION Enterprise/SPM/PME - How to Create/Register a custom ION Virtual Processor Service (VIP)
Issue
Some systems with extensive computer based programming to aggregate separate meter data will require multiple VIP nodes for proper operation.
This document outlines how to create these additional VIP nodes.
Product Line
ION Enterprise
Struxureware Power Monitoring
Power Monitoring Expert 8.x
Power Monitoring Expert 9.x
Power Monitoring Expert 2020
Power Monitoring Expert 2021
Power Monitoring Expert 2022
Power Monitoring Expert 2023
Environment
All ION Enterprise and Power Monitoring Expert systems.
Cause
For proper performance each VIP should contain both a .cfg and .bak file. These files should max at approximately 2 Mb. Once this file size is reached, for the integrity of the system, it is recommended to create a new VIP for further PC based programming.
Resolution
Create a new ION Virtual Processor Service (VIP) and start it using the following steps:
- Open a command prompt window by right-clicking on CMD and selecting "Run as administrator."
- Using cd navigate to ...\Power Monitoring Expert \System\bin *
- Example: If PME has been installed on the C drive type cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Schneider Electric\Power Monitoring Expert\system\bin
- Register the Virtual Processor as a service by typing "vip.exe -Service -N<custom VIP name>"
- Example: For a VIP named PMEServer type vip.exe -Service -NVIP.PMEServer or vip.exe -Service -NPMEServer
- Close the command prompt window.
- Open Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services and start the newly registered VIP
*Note:
The path for older versions or direct in place upgrades could be as follows
