Data Center Expert | v7.4.2 is no longer available

Issue:
The StruxureWare Data Center Expert v7.4.2 release is no longer available because of a recently discovered issue affecting Device Definition Files (DDF). Affected devices have duplicate sensor entries in Data Center Expert, with sensor status reported as unplugged. The affected DDFs are in Data Center Expert v7.4.0, v7.4.1, and v7.4.2. Earlier Data Center Expert versions are not affected.

Product Line:
StruxureWare Data Center Expert.

Environment:
DCE version 7.4.2
: APC Smart-UPS DDF
DCE version 7.4.1: ACRC301 DDF
DCE version 7.4.0: APC DC Magnum; EcoBreeze DDFs

Cause:
These DDFs created new sensor IDs which has caused StruxureWare to create new sensors for these IDs. The old sensor IDs remain in the system but are no longer linked to the actual sensors so they report as unplugged.

Resolution

  • If you have updated your server to Data Center Expert v7.4.2, and do not monitor any of the affected devices, you can continue to use v7.4.2 and update to v7.4.3 when it is released.
  • If you have updated to v7.4.2, are monitoring affected devices, and you have a backup of v7.4.1, you can restore your server from backup.

You will lose the historical sensor data collected since you updated to v7.4.2. Contact your local Technical Support to assist with questions about server restore and backups.

  • If you have updated to v7.4.2, are monitoring affected devices, and do not want to lose any historical sensor data, you can continue to use v7.4.2 and update to v7.4.3 when it is released.

Sensor status will be reported as unplugged until the v7.4.3 update is applied.

  • If you are using Data Center Expert v7.3.1 or earlier and want to update your software to address the password storage vulnerability, you can update to v7.4.1. You must have a valid support contract to receive the software update. To update from versions earlier than v7.3.1, contact your local Technical Support.
