When the PLC control is used on advanced version TeSys Giga contactors, do we still need to connect A1/A2 ?

AC or DC control voltage input to A1-A2 is a must and this control voltage defines the proper functioning of the contactor. When the PLC input is ON, the contactor operation can be controlled by the 24V DC PLC signals.
