What is a Character String Transfer Alert?
A Character String Transfer Alert occurs when a string operation attempts to:
- Transfer more characters than the destination string can hold.
- Copy data into a string that exceeds the maximum configured length.
- Concatenate multiple strings and exceed the destination string capacity.
- Receive malformed string data from an external device
How to diagnose in Logic Editor (Control Expert).
- Go to Mode menu and then connect to the device.
- Go to Tools menu and select Diagnostic Viewer
Examine the Diagnostic Viewer window and it will provide the location of the error in the program.
In this example program, the variable "Result_String" was set to default 16 characters limit which was causing the issue.

To correct the issue, increase the variable "Result_String" to have a 32 character limit by changing the Type to String[32]
