Lithium-ion UPS’s are an integral part of your IT modernisation strategy. There have been significant improvements with chemistries and technologies of lithium-ion batteries that have made them appealing for UPS applications. The Electrical Voltage (EV) industry is largely to thank for these advances. As adoption grows and the technology continues to mature, costs per kWh are declining. The Trade-UPS programme by Schneider Electric allows you to upgrade your old UPS units to modern, reliable equipment. It includes free removal and disposal services for your old units, regardless of their manufacturer or working condition.
Trade-UPS covers the freight costs for Metro, Inner and Outer regions. Remote costs are variable and may be only partially covered. To identify your region, please enter your location on the booking portal.

Any service that is compatible for that UPS is fine. The minimum service is a one-year extended warranty, however, others such as Installation Services, Preventive Maintenance and Advantage Service Plans are fine too. And softwares can be Powerchute series (Business Edition, Network Shutdown, Personal edition, Serial shutdown) and EcoStruxure IT SmartConnect.
For units 25kg and under, the UPS just needs to be inside a cardboard box with the printed label clearly visible. The printed label comes from the booking portal at the final steps after confirmation.
If the unit is heavier than 25kg, the UPS must be shrink-wrapped on a pallet or skid. Again, the printed label must be clearly visible from the exterior.
The programme helps reduce e-waste by ensuring responsible disposal of old UPS units. It also offers cost-effective upgrades to lithium-ion batteries, which have a lower environmental impact and longer service life compared to VRLA batteries.
Schneider Electric promotes circularity by elongating asset lifecycles, monitoring and maintaining infrastructure with digital services, and managing end-of-life products with recycling options. Lithium-ion batteries used in the programme have a lower environmental impact over their lifecycle.
Circularity involves extending the lifecycle of assets, reducing waste, and improving efficiency through monitoring and maintenance. This approach helps reduce environmental impact and can lead to cost savings.
Lithium-ion batteries offer several advantages over VRLA batteries, including longer service life (10-15 years vs. 3-6 years), lower maintenance costs, higher energy efficiency, and smaller footprint.
