Where can I find PRP and DRS Configuration files for the Modicon Switches?

The Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP) configuration files and Dual Ring Switch (DRS) configuration files are predefined switch configuration templates designed for the Modicon Managed Switches. These files are used to quickly deploy validated redundancy settings onto a new or replacement switch.

  • PRP configuration files are used for MCSESM and MCSESR switches. Although MCSESM switches are the most commonly used in PRP architectures, MCSESM‑E switches can also support PRP by simply loading the MCSESM PRP configuration file.

  • DRS configuration files, on the other hand, are exclusively supported on MCSESM‑E switches. These files cannot be used on standard MCSESM or MCSESR models.

Control Expert 16.2

  • In Control Expert 16.2, all PRP and DRS configuration files are located in the Control Expert Extras folder which can be found in the following directory: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Schneider Electric\Control Expert 16.2\Extras\Config DRS\MCSESM-E_Predefined DRS Configuration files

Control Expert 16.4 and Later

  • Beginning with Control Expert 16.4, DRS and PRP configuration files are organized by redundant protocol and switch family:
    • DRS - MCSESM-E Switches: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Schneider Electric\Control Expert 16.2\Extras\Config DRS\MCSESM-E_Predefined DRS Configuration files

    • PRP - MCSESM Switches: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Schneider Electric\Control Expert 16.4\Extras\Config PRP\MCSESM_Start up PRP Configuration Files

    • PRP - MCSESR Switches: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Schneider Electric\Control Expert 16.4\Extras\Config PRP\MCSESR_Start up PRP Configuration Files

The latest DRS configuration files are available for download directly from SE.com, while the latest PRP configuration files are currently on SE.com, they can be found attached within this FAQ.
