PowerLogic P5 – Web HMI Connection and Web Browser Compatibility
Issue
The user cannot connect to the Web HMI of a PowerLogic P5 relay. The IP address and network settings have been verified, and the user believes they are using a compatible web browser.
Product
PowerLogic™ P5 Protection Relay
Environment
- Accessing the relay’s Web HMI over HTTPS
- Browsers tested: Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge
- Windows 7, Windows 10, or Windows 11 operating systems (with or without pre‑installed certificates)
- Firmware versions earlier or later than V02.501 (per compatibility table)
Cause
- HTTPS web server disabled:
The HTTPS server of the PowerLogic P5 was not enabled initially, preventing access to the Web HMI. - Browser compatibility limitation:
According to the P5 documentation, Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge are not compatible with firmware versions earlier than V02.501, while Mozilla Firefox is compatible with all versions.
This could explains why the Web HMI worked in Firefox but failed to load in Chrome.
Resolution
- Enable the HTTPS server:
Enable the HTTPS server from eSetup Easergy Pro:
COMMUNICATION / Protocol configuration → Enable HTTPS server
Make sure the checkbox is enabled before attempting to reconnect. - Use a compatible web browser:
- If the relay is running firmware earlier than V02.501, use Mozilla Firefox (recommended for all versions).
- If you need to use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, update the relay firmware to V02.501 or later, since those browsers become compatible only from this version onward.
- Retry accessing the Web HMI after enabling HTTPS and using a compatible browser.
