Which Contact Block Configurations Can Be Used with 22mm Selector Switches?
Which contact block configurations can be used with 22 mm selector switches?
1. What you need to know
Ø22 mm Harmony selector switches use normally open (NO) and normally closed (NC) contact blocks.
On a 2-position selector switch, a single NO contact is open in one position and closed in the other, while a single NC contact operates inversely, regardless of its mounting position on the fixing collar.
On a 3-position selector, a left NO contact is closed only in the left position, and a right NO contact is closed only in the right position, while center NO is closed in both left and right positions of the selector. A left NC contact is open only in the left position, and a right NC contact is open only in the right position, while center NC is open in both left and right positions of the selector.
2. How contact block position works on Harmony 22 mm selector switches
- The switching pattern is not an attribute of the contact block itself, but of the combination of contact type (NO or NC) and its position in the fixing collar. The state column reads left to right through the selector positions, with the center position shown only for 3-position devices.
- The contact block position on the fixing collar is given from the head point of view:
- O = contact open and X = contact closed. For example, O – O – X means the contact is open in the left and center positions and closed in the right.
- Schneider Electric selector switches comply with IEC 60947-5-1 requirements.

| 3-position | 1 x NO CENTER | O – X – O | Closed only when selector is at the center position. | Sub-assemblies: ZB4BD3 head + ZB4BZ009 fixing collar + ZBE101 or ZBE1015 contact block |
| 3-position | 1 x NO RIGHT | X – O – O | Closed only when selector is at the left position. | Sub-assemblies: ZB4BD3 head + ZB4BZ101 or ZB4BZ1015 body |
| 3-position | 2 x NO LEFT and RIGHT | X – O – X | One NO closed when selector is at left or right position. Example: HAND-OFF-AUTO | Complete unit: XB4BD33 Sub-assemblies: ZB4BD3 head + ZB4BZ103 or ZB4BZ1035 body |
| 3-position | 1 x NC LEFT | X – X – O | Open only when selector is at the right position. | Sub-assemblies: ZB4BD3 head + ZB4BZ102 or ZB4BZ1025 body |
| 3-position | 1 x NC CENTER | O – X – O | Open only when selector is at the left and right positions. | Sub-assemblies: ZB4BD3 head + ZB4BZ009 fixing collar + ZBE102 or ZBE1025 contact block |
| 3-position | 1 x NC RIGHT | O – X – X | Open only when selector is at the left position. | Sub-assemblies: ZB4BD3 head + ZB4BZ009 fixing collar + ZBE102 or ZBE1025 contact block |
| 3-position | 2 x NC LEFT and RIGHT | O – X – O | One NC open when selector is at left or right position. | Sub-assemblies: ZB4BD3 head + ZB4BZ104 or ZB4BZ1045 body |
Note: NO and NC contact blocks can be combined and stacked in any other way to achieve specific states. The number of stackable elements depends on the contact block reference.
