PAS Firmware 2.7.0 Compatibility with EcoStruxure™ Power Commission (EPC)
Overview
Starting with PAS firmware version 2.7.0, the device uses a new communication method (EDM technology), while the current EcoStruxure Power Commission (EPC) 2.x versions support only CAPI-based communication.
As a result, PAS devices running firmware 2.7.0 or later cannot be discovered or commissioned directly using EPC 2.x.
- Can EcoStruxure Power Commission (EPC) discover a PAS running firmware 2.7.0 or later?
No.
PAS devices with firmware 2.7.0 and above cannot be discovered by EPC 2. x because these firmware versions use EDM, whereas EPC 2.x supports only CAPI communication.
- What happens when I perform discovery on a PAS with firmware 2.7.0 & above and downstream devices connected?
The PAS acts as a transparent gateway during device discovery. EPC will not discover the PAS device itself. EPC will successfully discover and display the downstream connected devices on the Discovery page.
Expected Result: Downstream devices are discovered. The PAS device is not displayed or available for commissioning.
- What happens if I upgrade an existing PAS from firmware 2.6.0 to 2.7.0 and then reconnect using EPC?
Situation:
An EPC project was previously created when the PAS was running firmware 2.6.0. The PAS firmware is upgraded to 2.7.0 or later using the PAS web interface, and the user returns to EPC and attempts Connect to Device.
Behavior: The following message is displayed:
"You cannot commission the device with this application. Request to use the web interface or another tool."
- Does PAS firmware 2.6.0 work with EPC?
Yes.
PAS devices running firmware 2.6.0 continue to operate normally with EPC 2.x.
