Issue:

How can I integrate my SMT Smart-UPS with third party applications?

Environment:

All models except for SMT1000RM1U and SMT1500RM1U, UPS Firmware Rev 9.0 or greater

Cause:

APC by Schneider Electric uses a proprietary protocol called Microlink to communicate with APC branded software solutions. This protocol is used by all SMC, SMT, SMX, and SURTD series Smart-UPS products. Some customers may want to integrate UPS communications directly with their own applications.

Resolution:

To allow for third party integration APC has enabled Modbus communications on all SMT series Smart-UPS (except for the SMT1000RM1U and SMT1500RM1U).
The UPS units must be running UPS firmware version 9.0 or greater.
