Can free-wheeling diodes be installed at the VFD output to protect against regenerative power ?
In any of the VFD's the free-wheeling diode in output will not help to protect the drive from motor. The freewheel diode is generally used in DC circuit for protection against reverse feeding. In VFD the regenerative power from motor must be dissipated through braking resistors or it should be properly inverted in to AC and should be fed back to the supply mains through regenerative braking units.
