BACnet and Modbus are different communication protocols.
- BACnet is a broadcasting protocol where devices continuously listen to the master. When their turn (token) comes, they respond to the master.
- Modbus, on the other hand, is a request/reply protocol that provides services defined by function codes. These function codes are elements of the Modbus request/reply Protocol Data Unit (PDU).
The PM5500 meter can communicate with both systems simultaneously without any issues.
