Title

Converting KCGG122 Settings File to KCGG110 in MiCOM Easergy Studio

Issue

A customer attempts to use MiCOM Easergy Studio to convert a configuration/settings file from a KCGG122 relay to a KCGG110 relay. Easergy Studio only offers conversion targets within the KCGG122 line and does not allow conversion to KCGG110. The customer asks if this is expected and whether there is any way to convert the file for use on KCGG110.

Product

MiCOM Easergy Studio (Settings management and conversion tools)

Environment

  • Source device: KCGG122 (OC/EF relay)
  • Target device: KCGG110 (EF-only relay)
  • Configuration file conversion using Easergy Studio on Windows environment

Cause

Easergy Studio’s conversion feature supports intra-series model conversions only (i.e., between variants within the same product series and functional family). The KCGG122 (OC/EF) and KCGG110 (EF-only) are different series/function sets, so the tool does not expose cross-series conversion due to differences in available functions, elements, and data models.

Resolution

  • This behavior is expected. Easergy Studio does not support converting a KCGG122 settings file to a KCGG110 model.
  • No automated cross-series conversion is available.
  • Recommended approach:
    1. Manually re-create the required settings on the KCGG110 relay.
    2. Use Easergy Studio’s File Compare (or Settings Compare) tool to guide the manual transfer, mapping only the elements that exist on KCGG110 (EF) and omitting OC-specific elements that are not supported.
    3. After manual entry, validate protection elements, I/O mapping, logic, communications, and passwords.
    4. Perform a device audit (read-back/compare) before commissioning to ensure parity where applicable.
  • If needed, provide the customer with a parameter mapping checklist (EF elements, ANSI codes, stages, curves, pickup/restraint logic) to streamline the manual process.
