Cause
You can download Event and Data logs from a Network Management Card (NMC) as well as any configuration files directly from the Network Management Card. This is helpful in situations that require backup of data and/or settings or when troubleshooting. In certain situations, additional debug files may be requested. This is typically done using the FTP protocol but other options exist depending on your device type and current configuration.

Resolution

Refer to the instructions below which cover FTP or SCP, download via Web UI (if available), and via the Command Line Interface (CLI) (if available).

To begin, here is a list of what files are available from each card:

• Web/SNMP Card (AP9606)\n
  • Available file includes: event.txt

• Network Management Card 1 (AP9617, AP9618, AP9619)\n
  • Available files include: event.txt, data.txt, and config.ini

  • Available files include: event.txt, data.txt, config.ini, debug.txt, dump.txt, select UPS debug files (v6.0.6 and higher only)

  • Available files include: event.txt, data.txt, config.ini, debug.txt, dump.txt, select UPS debug files

File Transfer Protocol - All Network Management Cards or Web/SNMP Card

Please follow the procedure below for FTP instructions on v3.X.X, v5.X.X, and v6.X.X firmware versions. These same steps could also be used for SCP in some form.

\n

1. \n
   1. Open a command prompt (In a Windows environment: Start > run > "cmd") or other client that supports the FTP protocol.
      
      2.) Change directories to the directory that you want the files stored in. Generally, you'd use the cd command in most command line tools. If using a GUI FTP client, this may not be necessary.
      
      3.) Type ftp<space><IP address of Network Management Card>. Press enter.
      
      4.) Log into the Network Management Card with an Administrator login.
      
      5.) Type bin. Press enter. (This will change into binary transfer mode, as opposed to ASCII.)
      
      6.) Type hash. Press enter. (This will display hash marks - # - on the screen to indicate data transfer).
      
      7.) At your command prompt, type get config.ini. Press enter.
      
      8.) NOTE: *If using Network Management Card 2 only, files are now stored in the /logs directory on the card. Even so, backwards compatibility is built in so that these files can be retrieved from the root directory. Alternatively, you can also change to the logs directory to get the files. To do so, type cd logs.
      
      9.) Type get<space>data.txt. Press enter.
      
      10.) Type get<space>event.txt. Press enter.
      
      11.) Optional: If requested to do so, change to the /dbg directory by typing cd<space>/dbg and type get<space>debug.txt and/or get<space>dump.txt. NOTE: For NMC3: The dbg directory is not included in the Smart-UPS (su) firmware and needs to be manually downloaded. Follow the steps outlined in Knowledge Base article FA386512 to download the dbg directory contents.
      
      12.) The files have now been downloaded and are saved to the directory that was specified in step 2.
      
      13.) Type bye and exit out of your command prompt or FTP client.

Network Management Card 2 (AP9630/31/35) v6.0.6 and higher, Network Management Card 3 (AP9640/41) - How to Export Logs (data.txt, event.txt, or config.ini only) via the Web UI

Alternatively, if files are requested by technical support, a single debug file download, including event.txt and data.txt with many other files can be obtained via the web interface under About >  Support > Generate Logs and subsequently Download logs. This same generation/download can be completed via the logzip CLI command and then FTP/SCP to download the single file from the /dbg directory.

Proceed below if only event.txt, data.txt, and config.ini are required.
1.) Log into the Network Management Card via a supported web browser.

2.) Navigate to the Logs menu and choose either Data > Log or Event >Log.

3.) Select the floppy disk icon, as shown below and you can export either data.txt or event.txt directly from the Web UI to your local computer from the disk icon in their respective menus.




4.) Choose a location on your local computer to save the file with the dialog box that pops up.




5.) For the config.ini file, navigate to Configuration > General > User Config File and click the Download button, shown below.



After selecting Download, a dialog box should appear for you to save your file to your local computer.

Network Management Card 2 (AP9630/31/35) v6.0.6 and higher, Network Management Card (AP9640/41) - How to Export "Debug File Download" via Command Line Interface
These steps are helpful if web access is unavailable or not allowed.
1.) Connect to the Network Management Card 2/3 via the CLI (Telnet, SSH, or local console).

2.) Issue the logzip command. During this process, the Network Management Card will generate a file called debug_<serial number of card>.tar. NOTE: For NMC3: The dbg directory is not included in the Smart-UPS (su) firmware and needs to be manually downloaded. Follow the steps outlined in Knowledge Base article FA386512 to download the dbg directory contents.

3.) Now the .tar file needs to be retrieved. Connect to the card via FTP or Secure CoPy. Log in via your preferred method and verify the file is present in the /dbg directory.

Customer is using an older firmware and would like to update to a new one.

Resolution
*Warning: The firmware utilities listed here can cause permanent damage to your product if applied incorrectly. Before downloading any firmware updates, verify the firmware you are downloading is appropriate for the specific model number of your product. If you have any doubts, contact Technical Support for guidance.*

*Warning: Devices should be disconnected from all monitoring software before performing a firmware upgrade*

NOTE: If the firmware version is earlier than Firmware V1.01.00 then download V1.01.00 and see FA237920 for a walk through on upgrading using DLF-3000.   

If the meter is not already at the current firmware (found here), download it, and follow the steps or video below, and repeat those steps.
  
NOTE: This procedure explains how to upgrade the firmware using the meter's FTP server. \n

1. Start by power cycling the meter.
2. Open Windows Explorer and connect to the meter by entering ftp:\\\\XX.XX.XX.XX and replace "X"with IP Address of the meter to be upgrade.\n\t
   • It may be necessary to hold the Alt key down and click "VIEW" "Open site in File Explorer" if you opened FTP in Internet Explorer.
   \n\t
3. Enter a Product Master username and password when prompted (the default username and password are user2 and pass2). There should be a www and fw folder displayed. 
4. Copy the PM5500StartUpgrade.shtml file into the www folder. 
5. Copy the App2.out and PM556x_vX.Y.Z.fwa files into the fw folder. 

\nNOTE: If a file with the same name already exists on the meter, there will be a prompt to confirm whether or not to replace that file. Click Yes (to replace that one file) or Yes to All (to replace all files).

NOTE: If there are custom files such as web pages added to the meter's FTP server, there may not be enough memory on the meter's Ethernet communications card to paste the files which will result in an error. If so, these files will need to be temporarily removed from the meter before proceeding. Once upgraded, they can be copied back. \n\n

1. Exit Windows Explorer after the file copying is complete.
2. Open a browser and enter http://XX.XX.XX.XX/PM5500StartUpgrade.shtml and replace "X" with the IP Address of the meter to be upgraded to trigger the upgrade.  
3. Enter the login credentials when prompted to begin the upgrade process. 

\nNOTE: It might take a minute or two while the meter's Ethernet communications card is reset, and the upgrade initialized. A firmware upgrade status page will be displayed which shows the information about the upgrade process.
NOTE: If the status page indicates that one of the upgrade processes failed, restart the upgrade process from Step 1.

Missing APC UPS device drivers.

A USB driver for communications between the APC UPS and Windows OS is pre-installed in Windows OS. The drivers should load automatically once the APC UPS has been connected to the computer using the proper USB cable. If the driver does not load, please review Video: How to verify USB communications between UPS and Windows OS using UsbDeview.exe.

NOTE: The PowerChute APC UPS driver is bundled with the PowerChute installer. The APC UPS driver will be available when PowerChute has been installed. If the APC UPS driver is unavailable, run the PowerChute installer with a UPS connected via USB to install the driver.
Or, download the attached ApcUpsUsbDriver.zip. Uncompress the zip and follow the instructions provided in the Readme.pdf.

To change from the HID UPS driver to APC UPS:

1. Go to the Windows Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management.
2. From the left-side panel in the Computer Management dialog, under System Tools, select Device Manager, then Batteries. You should see a driver called APC UPS or APC Battery BackUPS. If you don't see either of these drivers, you will need to install the driver by going with the steps below.
3. Double-click on "HID UPS Battery".
4. Click on the Driver Tab
5. Click on the "Update Driver..." button.
6. Choose the option to browse for the driver software or install the driver from a list. The option presented will depend on the operating system on which you are installing the driver.
7. When presented with Search for driver software in this location and Let me pick from a list of device drivers click on Let me pick from a list of device drivers.
8.  Select APC UPS or APC Battery BackUPS from the list of drivers. 
9. On some operating systems, a system reboot is required before the device will work properly. If requested, please reboot the system.

주의사항!!! 아래의 자료는 GP-Pro EX 소프트웨어 버젼 4.01.000 ~ 4.06.300 까지 사용할 수 있습니다. 

1.PC(노트북)에 설치하신 GP-Pro EX 소프트웨어를 한글 메뉴로 사용할 수있는 한글 패치 방법 안내드립니다.

***( 첨부된 파일 중 GPProEX_SW_V4.01_Setup_ko 다운로드 해주시기 바랍니다) 

  < 설치 방법 >
     ① 반드시 GP-Pro EX V4.01이상을 먼저 설치하셔야 합니다.
     ② GP-Pro EX를 실행하고 계신다면, 설치하기 전 반드시 GP-Pro EX를 종료하십시오.
     ③ 아래 경로에서 다운받은 "GPProEX_SW_V4.01_Setup_ko" 한글패치파일을 설치합니다.
     ④ 설치가 완료되면 도스창이 나타나게 되며, 완료 메시지와 함께 설치가 완료될 것입니다.
     ⑤ 메뉴바에서 View → Preferences → General 항목에서 "Language" 를 Korean 으로 설정합니다.


2. PC(노트북)에 설치하신 GP-Pro EX 소프트웨어에 추가로 한글 매뉴얼을 설치하는 방법 입니다.

첨부된 파일 압축을 풀어 주신 후 다시 설치 파일을 실행해주시기 바랍니다.


3. GP-Pro EX 소프트웨어를 설치하지 않으신 분들은 위 매뉴얼을 사용하실 수 없습니다.
   아래 첨부파일에서 한글 매뉴얼(압축 파일)을 다운받으시어 참고해 주십시오.
